Crawford County Council on Aging

Activities

The Crawford County Council on Aging, Senior Activities Program, is a self-funded program that relies on community support through fundraisers, sponsorships and donations.

Activities are open to senior citizens ages 55 and older.

Don’t forget to sign up for our monthly, Senior Tidings, newsletter!  Call 419-562-3050 or email to coa@cccoa.org to be put on our mailing list.

Memberships

We offer an optional, paid Activities Membership. Members receive discounts on most class/activity fees, may attend members-only activities and may sign up for activities early by using their Senior Space profiles online. Memberships are $30 for an individual or $55 for a married couple. Membership term is 1 year and must be renewed to continue receiving member benefits.

For questions about memberships, call 419-562-3050 ext. 236 to speak with our Activities Coordinator.  Please stop in our Senior Center at 200 S. Spring St., Bucyrus, for a membership packet.

Off-site Activities

We offer senior activities outside of our Senior Center in Bucyrus to make the program more accessible throughout the county.  We offer activities in Crestline at the Crestline Community Center and in Galion at Historic Grace Church (across from Brownella Cottage). Offsite activities are dependent upon funds (example: having a sponsor for bingo) and participation.  If an offsite activity is offered in a given month, this will be noted in our newsletter.

How to Support Senior Activities

The Senior Activities Program relies on community support.  There are many ways you can help this program to continue to grow by helping the seniors in our community.

Volunteer: You can help with bingo, painting class (no painting experience needed to assist!), parties and other larger crafts and events. Volunteer form required.

Sponsorship: You don’t need to own a business to sponsor a bingo. We’ve had private individuals sponsor; they typically give a donation for the prizes and help at the game. Another option is to provide the funds for a senior to have a membership. We also have events throughout the year where we ask for community support: Secret Santa Tree, Older Americans Month, prize donations,  etc. Please speak with our Activities Coordinator for sponsorship opportunities.

Support Our Fundraisers: Each year we have our annual Chicken BBQ. When you purchase a meal ticket, you support the Activities Program! Our Easter Bake Sale in April 2022 was a success, an event we plan continue each year. Thanks for your support!

Donate items from our Amazon Wishlist: The Activities Department adds new items to this wish list every month. Find our wish list here.
